All of the jewellery that comes from Samunnat Nepal is made by hand

Many people don’t realise that every piece made by the artists at Samunnat Nepal is made by hand. So, no two pieces are identical. The small variations that you see are part of the joy of buying a handmade item. We thought it would be interesting for people to see some more videos of the artists at work. These will explain how the Samunnat women can send pieces of such high quality to customers around the world.

Enjoy!

Gita has already made a very small ‘cane’ to decorate each individual bead. First she cuts multiple small slices to put on the bead.

Next, Ambika adds strips of color that fit into the valleys of her growing design

Then she places each slice to cover the bead and smooths the surface of the bead.

Ambika is making a larger cane to use in a necklace design. Here, she has already made the centre of the design and is wrapping another layer of blue polymer to extend the design.

Sharmila shows how all of the beads are individually shaped and then chosen to fit with the most appropriate piece.

Now you can head over to the shop with a deeper understanding of the journey of each piece!
